What’s the Difference Between an Oil Burner and a Wax Warmer?
An oil burner and a wax warmer both work the same way: a lit tealight sits beneath a small dish, gently heating whatever’s placed in it to release fragrance into the room. The only real difference is what goes in the dish — fragrance oil (diluted with water) for an oil burner, or a wax melt for a wax warmer. Many of our burners are dual-purpose, so you can use either.
How to Use an Oil Burner or Wax Warmer
Place a standard tealight in the base, add a few drops of diluted fragrance oil or a piece of wax melt to the dish above, and light the tealight. Always use on a heat-resistant surface, never leave it burning unattended, and let it cool completely before handling or cleaning.
Electric Oil Burners
If you’d rather avoid a naked flame, an electric oil burner plugs in and heats gently without a tealight — a safer option around pets, children or draughty rooms.
